When is it the right time to move from a cot to a bed? Another hotly debated topic amongst parents. Some buy a cot that changes into a bed and others buy a junior bed. We fell into the latter category. My eldest had a wooden Thomas the Tank Engine Junior Bed which he loved as he was train mad.

John Lewis are stocking a new and up to date version which is suitable from 15 months and has a shelf at the top for books etc and a storage box at the front of the bed which could store toys. It comes with a mattress and is made to order.

At £249.95 it is a bit pricy considering you will need to buy another bed in a couple of years but for any Thomas obsessed toddlers it may be worth it.

Editors note: Since we originally featured this bed, John Lewis seem to have sold out. But…there is one on sale at Adventure Toys where it’s currently reduced to £159.99!
