They Might Be Giants: Here Comes Science
For curious pre-schoolers there is nothing more interesting than the world around them and the world inside them. As an out and proud Science geek I am in love with the new record from They Might Be Giants: Here Comes Science. After writing about how much we loved their first two children’s records, Here Come The 123s and Here Come the ABCs, we were sent a copy of Here Comes Science to check out.
I have to say without hesitation we love it. From the moment we hit play there has been lots of crazy dancing and giggles which is the very least you should expect from children’s music! All 19 songs are Science based and cover topics like: The Elements, What is a Shooting Star, Photosynthesis and Computer Assisted Design. What I really love is the very simple and slightly tongue in cheek explanations for what could be considered dry and difficult topics. There is nothing patronising about the way the information is presented and it has really opened my mind to how we can explore Science in more depth despite my eldest only being (almost) three. The accompanying DVD has videos for all of the songs and is also proving a big hit. In honour of Milla’s recent obsession with hearts and blood you can have a peek at our favourite video below.
You can buy the CD and DVD for £8.95 or download the MP3 for £7.49 both from Amazon. If you love They Might Be Giants we may have a very exciting giveaway coming soon…

I can’t stop singing the Electric Car song they keep playing on Nick Jr – it’s really good! If that’s anything to go by, I bet the album is great!

The album is fab. My toddler can sing ‘the sun is a mass of incandescant gas a gigantic nuclear furnace’ although of course he doesn’t know what it means LOL.

@ Sam – my daughter gasped and said “It’s the song from your computer Mama!” when we played electric car the first time!
@ Eve – clearly a child genius. It is an exciting prize, waiting for it to be confirmed so keep a close eye on the site and email updates…

Very excited to know that they are producing children’s songs – didn’t even know they were still around. Look forward to hearing these records.
