Theatre preview: The Enormous Turnip

Enormous Turnip

Hot on the heels of the wonderful Arthur’s Dream Boat comes another fab children’s theatre experience – The Enormous Turnip from Dorset-based theatre company Stuff and Nonsense. The tour kicks off in Dumfries on Sunday and takes in Brighton, London, Stockton-on-Tees, Leeds, York, Lincoln and Southport, before ending in Consett in June. It’s recommended for children aged two and above, but the show runs for 85 minutes (including an interval), so may not be ideal for super-fidgety tots. We’ll be reviewing it in a couple of weeks, so I’ll let you know how Alfie gets on, but I thought I’d give you a heads up as these things often sell out quickly.

  1. […] He spent much of the show entranced (see above) by the action and belly laughing at the silly songs and dancing. Kitty was mesmerised by the first half and slept through most of the extremely noisy second. The actors handled the ultra-enthusiastic audience superbly, particularly the post-performance mobbing of Beatlemania proportions in the foyer. An enjoyably raucous hour and a half I’d recommend to anyone. Catch it at The Arts Depot from Thursday or on tour at various venues in the north – see our preview for details. […]
