The Safe Sippy Cup

May 26, 2009 by Natalie · 1 Comment

safe sippy cupI have a bit of a pet peeve about toddler cups because they either try to teach your child a skill they don’t need, fail to live up to the promise, have finnicky parts to keep track of, get battered and die a death too quickly, or get lost, and you quickly realise that cups are something you’ll spend a surprising amount of money on. Oh and let’s not forget the health concerns about the plastic used in cups and bottles…

The Safe Sippy certainly sounds like an interesting possible purchase, even though its RRP is a chunky £11.99 – I shall have to handcuff it to the bambino…

Free of the dodgy stuff like BPA, the cup is made from food grade stainless steel with a rubbery surrounding, and has a straw like spout. It’s got removable handles for when your tot wants to use the ribbed part of the rubber to grip it, and it’s got a cap to go over the spout. Dishwasher safe although obviously it can’t go in the microwave, I’m not sure if I can bring myself to spend this much on a toddler cup (we lose these things like umbrellas) but if you have, do let us know what it’s like. Check Bibs and Stuff for stockists.

This looks really interesting. I am wondering how hard the spout is. My Little Miss is using Nuby cups and I’m happy with them but not overly so. She does like a soft spout though…sucking with a sippy cup is a way off yet. Interesting product. Pricey but I imagine more of an investment piece as it’s meant to last. Perhaps a bungee cord attached to it would keep it safe! :) Cheers!
