The Baby Station

the babystationThe Baby Station by Babeco is an integrated seat and play base for babies aged 4 -12 months. The idea is that your baby can sit and access their toys and feel secure with a moulded foam seat for support. They get to play and learn for longer in their secure environment and parent wise, you get to feel at ease about them being in one spot.

There are footprint areas (the white bits that their feet touch) where suction cup toys can be attached and it has a 3 point harness. Weight wise, it’s 3kg making it easy to transport around.

In principle, it’s quite a good idea although I would love it to be a bit more pleasing on the eye. But this is for babies that aren’t inquisitive because I know my bambino would go ballistic at the idea of being effectively chained to one spot and only being able to touch what she could reach. Great for me but not so great for her…

For me, I believe the Baby Station is ideal for younger, less mobile babies because something like this gives them a zone and everything within easy reach whilst the parent doesn’t have to worry so much about toppling or falling over. It could also be handy as a makeshift feeding seat and I could definitely see it being useful outdoors.

This is clearly a direct competitor to Bumbo seats and Bebepod, and will no doubt pitch itself as the next stage up. If your baby is happy to sit in a Bumbo seat for a while then this should be of interest. One of the reasons why the bambino wasn’t keen on her Bumbo seat was because she couldn’t really reach something if she dropped it (that and the fact that she liked to try and climb out of it…) so the ability to play and be secure, sturdy, and free of tipping over should be a big selling point.

It’s just a shame about the aesthetics….

RRP is £59.99 and BabyBaby are selling it for £54.99
