See Kai Run shoes

July 23, 2010 by · 1 Comment

Any mum of a toddler boy will know how difficult it is to find sturdy, stylish, comfortable shoes that aren’t emblazoned with trains, rockets or the latest Disney/Pixar characters. Well, I’m pleased to report that the search is over! To be honest, I had a bit of a dilemma about sharing my discovery as I was tempted to keep them to myself, but my altruism won through. See Kai Run has been around since 2004, when Cause Haun’s son Kai was two and needed funky, functional footwear to run outside in and she uncovered a huge void in the US market.

These days, the brand has two collections, of 15-20 new designs, a year, in a range of fabulous colours with great detailing – check out the silver arrows on Augustin, £29.95 (above). All the shoes are super-stylish, but also healthy for growing tootsies, with oh-so-soft leather uppers and lining, flexible rubber soles and a wide fit for wiggle room. Alfie has the Grayson sandals (below) currently on sale for £19.95) and Justin shoes (top), £28.95, and adores wearing them – we’ve had none of the crying or stamping sometimes associated with new shoes.

The simple velcro closures and flexibility also mean he can get them off himself, but, to be honest, he’s usually quite reluctant! You can see the full collection (including some gorgeous girlie numbers and mega-cute pram shoes) on the European site, but p&p to the UK is 25 euros (yikes!), so unless you really, really can’t live without a certain design, check out one of the UK stockists – both Little Piggy and Marjorie Jane have a good selection.
