Room Candy: Book Corner
February 9, 2010 by Kat · 10 Comments

I have been meaning to share our play room with you for ages but sunny days and a tidy room never seem to come along together. So here is just a corner for you to take a look at. Our family is big on books and while we have children’s books on shelves in every room in the house the book corner is a special space carved for reading.
It grew around the gallery book shelf which we bought from GLTC. It is only designed to fit one layer of books on each level so we adjusted it slightly to fit more books on (our motto seems to be ‘more books’). The chair is one of my favourite designs for children, it combines privacy, fun and is gorgeously shaped. Of course it is PS LÖMSK from Ikea and is a magnet for kids. The fabulous Little Red Riding Hood wall stickers were a gift from Chocovenyl and we love being able to move them around. The print above the stickers is from my absolutely favourite Etsy seller AshleyG and was a gift for my son when he was born.
There will be some more book corner inspired posts coming your way this week so keep your eyes peeled.

This is lovely…you may just have inspired me!
Lovely!
That GLTC bookshelf is one of my favourites. And we have a lot of the same books, i see!
Fab! I love the chair and the bookshelf. I feel a touch of on-line shopping coming on.
Ooooh, I like the curtains! Have been having difficulty finding funky fabric for children’s curtains (no more pink, please). Any chance of a ‘funky nursery curtains and soft furnishings’ roundup at some point?
Thank you for you kind comments, I will be doing a bookshelf round up a little later in the week.
Rachel – I bought the fabric from Ikea and made the curtains myself (actually a lot easier than I imagined). Will have a chat with the other two about ideas for a curtain round up as you are right, definitely about time
hello kat,
am about to buy the gltc gallery bookshelf and am wondering how you managed to alter it to make more books fit in?
best,
toni
I have spoken to Mr Kat who did the adjusting and he said he turned around the bottom two shevles to reposition the grove which fixes the back board moving it backwards. I remember building it and don’t recall it being a major issue. Hope that helps! Kat x
fantastic. that sounds nice and easy. cheers for the tip!
