Stop the lights! When BG reader Sine tipped me off to the amazing work of Nanette Regan at her store Area Thrifty One, I came over all swoonish. Based in Jersey, she’s previously worked as a prop maker, puppet maker, and scenery painter and she now designs and makes these exquisite soft toys.

There’s sewing kits…and then there’s sewing kits like these fantastic retro delights – Babushka Bunny, Dangerous Dinosew and Kokeshi Kitten. She designed all of the linen/cotton blend fabrics herself (she should sell them by the metre!) and the patterns are heavenly. Each kit comes with instructions and fabric and you just need to buy filling and put them together with needle and thread. Ideal for beginners, they’re just £8.99. Should you want to skip the whole sewing bit and cut straight to an adorable softie, there are absolutely adorable bunnies (bottom right) and dinosaurs to buy, £15.50-£17.50 each.

Sine also tipped us off to the cool John Lewis bodysuits
