Plic Ploc Wiz iPad app

Eagle-eyed Kat turned me onto this little gem. As a new iPad owner and fanatic I’m always on the lookout for cool, designy apps and Plic Ploc Wiz (how cute is this name?) fulfils all the criteria. Subtitled ‘funny illustrations’, it’s essentially a colouring and ‘sticking’ app based on the quirky designs of Pepillo, aka French illustrator Céline Vernier.

You choose a picture (the app only comes with one, but you can buy more to create a gallery) and use the shapes as ‘stickers’ to complete your image. When you move a shape it emits a fabulously toddler-pleasing ‘boing’ sound – Alfie cannot get enough of it.

The sticking aspect would seem limiting, but reading the info page I discovered that you can tap and hold an element to delete it and a single tap will change its colour, so you can actually create your own scenes. There is also a direct email function – perfect for ensuring Grandma gets to see your little ones’ masterpieces. A really sweet and fun little app that I’m certain will keep Alfie entertained for a portion of our impending long-haul flight.
