Ordering: The Bumper Book of Nature by Stephen Moss

The Bumper Book of NatureI got tipped off about this book about nature in Olive Loves Alfie’s email newsletter. The Bumper Book of Nature by Stephen Moss gets back to basics by celebrating the seasons alongside a wildlife guide, and providing suggestions on activities to do with kids of all ages so that they can appreciate the outdoors and its inhabitants.

It’s funny what kids do to you as I’m not an ‘outdoorsy’ type person yet I’m far more interested in walks (they don’t have to involve shops…really!) and nature (I now cry at wildlife programmes) than I’ve ever been, and by the sounds of the reviews, this could be a book to take me back to my childhood (I spent a lot of time outdoors and even ran into a swamp playing kiss chase one day…), and continue to nurture the bambino’s love of animals and…getting muddy.

From activities for pranks, to simple games (apparently the Olive Loves Alfie crew run out as soon as the rain has stopped to have snail races), to helping identify animals, to recipes and projects for making stuff with things that you collect on your adventures, it sounds like a companion guide to family life outdoors. Click, click! Better get some wellies…

RRP £17.99, £10.79 Amazon. You can also buy in store at Olive Loves Alfie – I couldn’t find it on their site…

For more animal love, Kat and I, oh and the kids, love Zoo-ology.
