I was totally looking for something else and stumbled across this stop me in my tracks cot and felt my shopping palpitation meter go into overdrive. “How much?” I thought excitedly and then I saw the chunky US dollar price and my heart sank – yet another beautiful design that is not sold in the UK.

Now I’ll admit, it was the playful, unusual, bound to be designer look that drew me in but it’s actually been built by expert craftsmen from superior quality non-toxic materials and finishes and is for the most part built from lacquered hardwood.

It comes in several colour combinations of white or natural and another colour like the orange pictured, or green, blue, red, or pink. You can get girl, boy, fragile, this end up, or bambino (hehe) appliques for it or you can also get a custom one. It doesn’t include the mattress and I know US sizes can be a bit funny so you’d probably need to order a mattress from there too. The toddler rail that you see on the right costs an extra $145 so bearing in mind that it’s $985 for the cot before you’ve even coughed over delivery charges, this is one cot with a chunky pricetag. But it is fabulous.

Oh why does the US do nursery ranges that are so much more exciting than what we can purchase here!?

I’d already fallen in love with the Oeuf Sparrow cotbed from NYC and have been trying to convince them to ship to me but to no avail! Unless I am missing a fantastic UK brand/site (and if so I apologise) we really do not come anywhere near the American’s when it comes to contemporary nursery furniture…and I’m adamant I’m not going to resort to the horrors of Mothercare or Mamas and Papas….although only 9 weeks to go before our little one arrives so the hunt is very definitely on…help!

Try getting in touch with http://www.mumsaid.com. She works with lots of major US designers as she was an interior designer to the stars in Hollywood (worked for peeps like Brad Pitt and Robert de Niro I think) and she now runs a designer online store. Tell Kim I told you to get in touch and see if she can help you! x
