Florence Nursery

Our latest nursery tour has us chomping at the bit with envy. We wish we had our own store to furnish our baby nursery’s with fabulous, modern design pieces like Amanda from Nubie!

We moved house when our daughter Florence (now 2) was just 6 weeks. This isn’t something I’d recommend when you have raging nesting hormones plus I was also in the process of setting up Nubie with Mischa my business partner! The up side though was that as we sourced products for Nubie I also took the opportunity to choose things for Flo’s nursery!

The décor for the nursery evolved around the Zebra Cot made by ninetonine which I spotted at the Kids Modern show in Dulwich. It was love at first sight! Not only is it creative and fun, but beautifully and thoughtfully made, with great detailing such as slanted bars and wheels!

My daughter just adores it and feeds and pats it, and in energetic bedtime bursts, she jumps around in it – not so great!

Conscious not to overload her with our love of everything modern we added a few girly elements with soft curtains from Designers Guild and a stunning wall mural with flying pixies and fairies for those make believe chats at bed time.

We broke up the starkness of the cream carpet with a grey felt bear rug and woven felt storage box from Parkhaus and dotted the room with some bright fun objects such as the fushia pink Magis Puppy and Howee Pup Light which also acts as a soft night light.

Above all, I wanted Florence’s nursery to be her retreat and grow with her, well beyond her baby years. The Zebra Cot turns into a bed and sofa with an oak frame and it’d be so fabulous if in years to come, she can look back and remember her bedroom and the furniture in it and the fun she had we her Zebra cot!

As Amanda has had a good raid of her own store, most of the items are available to buy at Nubie. The blanket is the Icon blanket by Dwell Studio and the bedding is by them as well, with the blanket on the chair being by Donna Wilson. The changing unit’s also by ninetonine.
