New DwellStudio books

August 25, 2010 by · 4 Comments

I’m a massive fan of DwellStudio’s children’s books – the simple graphics are clean, chic and stylish and they seem to really appeal to little ones – Alfie still loves pointing out the fruit in Eat. Next week, they publish three new titles and I’ve had a sneak preview.

Kitty in Squares features a sweet felt finger puppet you can wiggle in a variety of different scenarios – peeping through a window, on a TV screen, in a picture frame… you get the gist. Each page is beautifully illustrated in DwellStudio’s inimitable modern design and the babies and children I’ve shown it to have delighted in the wiggly puppet peeking out. Puppy in Circles is along similar lines, as I’m sure you can imagine.

The third title, Touch & Feel Zoo, is a joy to behold. The elephant has textured ears, the penguin a squishy vinyl tummy and the bear is furry. So far, so any touch and feel book, but I really like the way DwellStudio has steered away from the more traditional animals like lions and monkeys in favour of iguanas and seals. Again, it’s the contemporary outlines of the animals and the contrasting backgrounds that make the book a stand-out. Each book has an RRP of £8.99, but shop around for a deal.
