Koto Bouncer

I had to do a bit of a double take when I saw the Koto Bouncer because before you acknowledge the difference in the seat structure, it does remind me of bloom’s coco lounger (note – we realise we wrote that in lowercase but we have been instructed by bloom that we must not use any capitals when mentioning their products or company….)

Anyway…

The Koto Bouncer is designed in the UK by Charlie Caffyn Designs who’ve also designed a number of well recognised nursery products for other brands. It’s made from laminated birch veneer with a clear non toxic finish, with a padded corduroy seat, 3-point harness and a removable hanging mobile of soft toys.

The cantilevered frame which basically makes it look like it’s hovering without support acts as the bouncing mechanism and it can be folded for ease of portability and storage.

It’s suitable from birth to about 6 months and is £48.92 at Babies R Us.

So what’s the difference between it and bloom’s coco lounger (pictured left)?

Aside from at least £91, the wood is sourced from sustainable beech and bird wood forests and are toxin free. You can also opt for a plexistyle (TM) instead of wood, although the price difference widens to almost £180! It’s a heftier weight though at more than double the weight of the Koto, so you may not be too keen on toting it about.

It’s one curved piece, has a 5 point harness, various plush seat options and what this all adds up to is a leap ahead in the style credentials and a certain finesse. It lasts a little longer than the Koto, going to 12kg instead of 9kg, and is perfect for the uncompromising style fiend.

That said, if you aspire for bloom’s coco lounger but your budget doesn’t stretch that far, the Koto Bouncer is a very worthy, still stylish, budget friendly, portable, opponent.

RRP for bloom’s coco lounger starts from £140 depending on the spec although do shop around as it’s cheaper at Kiddicare and John Lewis, plus you can check out the Plexistyle (TM) options at Little Fashion Gallery.
