Katvig Fuchsia Chess Baby Blanket/Play Mat

Natalie writes…

Ever since we mentioned these Katvig playmats in our autumn/winter preview a month ago, I have been keeping an eye out for them in stores one of haunts Yellow Lolly, has got 4 different styles in stock.

Playmats are one of those things that you can always do with, but the one from their activity mat tends to be a bit on the small side and you can end up improvising – the boyf doesn’t know this, but the bambino and I have been using his TV quilt (that wine paisley print one from Ikea)…

If you’ve been on the lookout for a well priced and great looking playmat that also doubles up as a blanket, the Katvig Baby Blanket/Playmat’s are a winner. At £19.95 there’ll look hot to trot whether they’re sitting on it or covered in them. The one featured is their Fuchsia Chess version.

Update: Ooops! I accidentally deleted the dimensions out of this yesterday! 95 X 95 cm

I have one of these Lovelies… and I must say the quality is outstanding… They are THE softest blanket/playmat I have ever touched.
Sophizi is Obsessed with hers and she cuddles it every night in bed!
It washes like a dream, never looses shape and drys very quickly too. For the Price, Your Right Natalie!!!

The only thing i will say against them are, the stitching detail of the Signiture ‘Apple’ has come undone in places, Sophizi is quite a wriggler and in less than a month of owning it, it has ome undone in at least 4 places… (i think Katvig need to rethink the durability of this detail!!!)
We got ours from the Hedgepig (we love you Kate!!!) and she has promised a replacement if i return ours! (which i am trying to prize away from my darling daughter but she can’t sleep without it!!!)

But all in all…. The best blanket to invest in… I want one of each colour!!!
and on that note……Can anyone find me this blanket in ORANGE Flying high???? I’m desperate for one!!!!! :o )

Could you tell me the measurements for this?… can’t find them anywhere. I’m looking for a playmat for my 7 mnth old. Have found one 120cmx150cm which is ideal size.

However I do love Katvig, so if its a similar size will get this one.

@ Natalie – Why am I not surprised you have already pounced Miss Style Fiend?! I am ordering mine next week (I am actually trying to behave myself this month which means October could be an avalanche of spending…) but will be keeping an eye on the threading.
@ Louise – Apologies. They were in the original post and must have deleted! it’s 95 X 95 so it is smaller than the one you have seen. Please let us know if you have found bigger and better!

    Thanks.

The biggest (quality) one I’ve found so far is Blooming Marvellous noah’s ark padded playmat (121x153cm). I’d actually like one even bigger but the only thing I can find are those awful (sorry, in my opinion) foam jigsaw bits that you stick together. I suppose I could buy 2 playmats.. gets a bit pricey though.

I was just going to use a blanket or material, but as my little one is getting more adventurous I now think I need something a bit more padded (plus for winter on our wooden floors).

I think I’ll get the Katvig blanket anyway for her pushchair!

Louise – I am with you on the foam things!!

Check out your local NCT Nearly New Sale – I grabbed a few used play mats to add to our collection, I did a guide to the sales over on Mama to be Goodies.

Another thing you can do is use a duvet or if you’re feeling super crafty knock up a quilt. I had good intentions for makeing a quilt play mat and bought all of the fabric at new year……it is still in pieces! Maybe for baby number 2…..

We’re loving the duvet idea, especially as we have a spare one sitting in a cupboard! We’ll get a funky cover, and she’ll have a big comfy playmat. Thanks for that, Kat.
