iwishiwasa…

April 19, 2010 by · 1 Comment

If we were handing out a rosette for best in show at Kids.Modern yesterday then it would have gone to iwishiwasa… whose bright, imaginative superhero costumes were selling like hot cakes.

Tamsin Thorne is a costume designer who, when inspired by her son’s eclectic styling, turned her hand to filling the glaring hole in the market for boys’ dressing up clothes. iwishiwasa… has all of the accessories every good superhero needs without telling the child who their superhero should be. Each item is sold individually to allow for mixing and matching to create a totally unique ensemble. The collection is made from durable material such as lycra, neoprene and PVC vinyl. You can choose from capes, masks, arm blades, utility belts and coming soon: head bands & wrist bands (see below, as snapped by me at the show).

In a market awash with branded outfits and gender stereotypes iwishiwasa… are a much needed panacea. Their exceptional design and stand-out colouring will inspire children’s imaginations.

The iwishiwasa… website is coming soon and until then you can buy from their Folksy shop. Prices from £6.50 for accessories, from £15 for capes and from £19.50 for masks.
