It was inevitable really and I had wondered when it would happen, but Ikea have launched a mini version of their APPLÅD kitchen as part of their supercool mini-me Duktig range. There are people who love hacking Ikea products and we featured a pretend play kitchen hack a few months back, but if you’re not prepared to sweat for your mini Ikea kitchen, this will be up your street.

It’s got a pretend induction hob (they say hot plate) which has light diodes that can be switched on and off, plenty of storage space for pretend food, a sink with mixer tap, and a top section (£24) which can be added that has a ‘microwave’.

It grows with your child as it’s got height adjustable legs, giving it 3 different positions. Made from fibreboard and birch plywood, it’s a sturdy buy that should hold itself up against the wear and tear of childdom. The main unit is £65 and you can accessorise this with other fantastic buys from the Duktig range like the cutlery, tea set, utensils, pots and pans, and dinnerware that start from £2.99 a set. The whole true-to-life thing means that they recommend age 3 for this. And no of course it’s not available to buy online but it is available in store.
