Gallop: A Scanimation Picture BookNatalie writes…

I saw this recently at Bubble and even for me at 30 years old (almost 31…booo!) I was quite taken with it as it vaguely reminded me of a toy I played with in my ‘youth’…

The book features a new technology called ‘Scanimation’ which makes the pictures move and come to life. This patented technology is based on the same principles as kinetoscopes and other old style techniques that employed an optical illusion.

With the Gallop! A Scanimation Picture Book by Rufus Butler Seder, there is a patented scrambled image underneath an acetate overlay of stripes that which has a horse galloping, a turtle swimming up the page, a dog running and much more.
