Dr Brown’s Natural Flow Feeding System

dr brown's feeding systemI have several friends who had colicky and refluxy (I think I made that word up) babies which can be a pretty horrendous time ,so my interest is peaked by anything that offers the opportunity to reduce or even eliminate these issues.

Dr Brown’s Natural Flow Feeding system has a patented internal vent that creates a vaccumless environment and reduces bubbles in formula and breast milk. This means that your baby isn’t hoofing down a load of air which minimises wind, colic, vomiting, reflux, and burping. It has different bottles and teats to suit different babies including ones especially for premature babies too.

Interestingly, it also has a “positive pressure design” which basically mimics the flow of breast feeding. I know of a lot of mums who have struggled to switch between breastfeeding and bottle feeding and this is supposed to make the process smoother.

I looked at a lot of bottles (thinking back I don’t know why as I had planned to breastfeed and did, but I was bored waiting for the bambino to pop…) and I have seen several bottle brands that profess to reduce colic but what has generally been absent is what these bottles actually do in order to achieve this. Dr Brown’s method is more transparent and obvious which will no doubt win over mum’s. It’s even won over new mum JLo who I saw using the Natural Flow system in her recent shoot in OK Magazine.

The Dr Brown’s Bottle Starter Kit which includes 2 X 120ml wide neck bottles, 1 X240ml wide neck bottle, plus 7 teats of 3 different sizes is £17.95 from John Lewis
