Customised Chest of Drawers

I am currently working on creating an office space in our house (I work on the sofa…) and I will be making over an old desk in the process so my antennae are up for furniture DIY projects. I spotted this chest of drawers make over on ohdeedoh yesterday and it was instant lust!

This stunning effect was created using contact paper. I had no idea what contact paper was so a quick Google later I can reveal it is self-adhesive repositionable shelf / drawer lining paper and the best UK source seems to be on eBay (comment if you know better). Anyhow, the seriously talented Lena Corwin shared this tutorial on Etsy’s The Storque from her book: Printing by Hand: A Modern Guide to Printing with Handmade Stamps, Stencils, and Silk Screens. The technique is inspiring and you could easily use it with your own stencils.

If you love this project have a look at this wallpapered chest of drawers on Nest Goodies.
