Nursery Decoration Idea: Customise an Ikea Hemnes Storage Bench

I’ve been over at one of my favourite spots Living Etc and perusing the gallery for nursery decoration ideas and found a great idea for customising Ikea’s Hemne’s Storage Bench.
Combining both seating and storage, the bench has a soft close lid for minimising the chance of little fingers getting caught.
It’s made from a mix of fibreboard and solid beech and the overall dimensions are 84 W X 55 D X 65 H cm.
It’s pretty good value too at £69 and by the time you’re finished customising it, it’ll look even more expensive. Ikea being Ikea, you can’t buy this online so you’ll need to pick it up from your local store.
In Living Etc’s version, they use Chakwall paint by Crayola at Craig and Rose, plus they’ve put a lovely cushion on it as well for great contrast.

If you don’t want to go down the chalkboard route, check out more of the Crayola range, or look at Cath Kidston paints, Fired Earth (Posh Box use this paint), or even Dulux.
Cushion wise, either shop around for something close to the size or make your own from fabric from brands like Designers Guild and Michael Miller (ebay very good for this).
