The latest in several toddler friendly iPhone app’s we’ve been checking out is Wheels on the Bus by Duck Duck Moose Design.

I’m going to say, this app is a hit with Saria, almost 3, and even Nia, almost 1, is trying to get in on the action, but I am going to warn you in advance – the song gets stuck in your head. It’s stuck in mine right now.

Based on the nursery rhyme, it’s an interactive musical book featuring gorgeous illustrations. Spin the wheels to move the bus along, open and close the doors, pop bubbles, play instruments, and lift up teddies and hats, as well as making the paper aeroplane fly amongst other things. It can be sung in five languages, and you can also use your own recording of the song – press the purple music button in the corner to change the settings, plus you can remove this button.

The fun doesn’t stop there, as you can change the instruments that play the song (cello, a kazoo, violin, piano) or even have it sung in ‘Gibberish’. It’s also available for the iPod Touch and the iPad when it gets launched here. £0.59 on iTunes plus they’ve also recently released Old MacDonald and Itsy Bitsy Spider, although we haven’t checked those out.

Great idea! V sorry to Blackberry users – when I had one I didn’t realise there were kid apps! And yes, would love to know what you recommend as we’re all iPhone users! Thanks

I know this is not a solution to the blackberry request but the cupcake app on the iphone is a must – I fight with my 3 year old daughter to take turns at baking and decorating cupcakes with sprinkles, jellybeans and choccie drops – its a must ! You can then email your final masterpiece onto your friends x
