Cascara crib by Babycotpod

I like it. I really, really do – but I still can’t help thinking of Brave New World, The Handmaid’s Tale and even, dare I say, The Matrix when I look at the smooth designer curves of the Cascara by Babycotpod.

No-one’s fault, of course. Those films and our best designers all borrow from shared visions of the future – and there is something just right about the egg shape when it comes to cradling our little ones. Put all that aside, anyway, and look at the practicalities of this piece: large integrated carry handles, and a foldaway stand. For me, though, the best bit is that you can pick and choose your own interior and exterior colours.

This may well be a clever piece of market research by its creators (who are, hot off Dragon’s Den – what a lot of baby inventions that show brings us) because it seems the cots are not quite in production yet. Indeed, if you’re any further on than the first trimester, I’m not sure I’d risk an order, as there’s no firm date given for delivery.
