Belle & Boo: Bubbles Before Bed

August 24, 2010 by · 2 Comments

Belle & Boo fans have long anticipated the forth coming book Bubbles Before Bed. It is the first Belle & Boo book written and illustrated by Mandy Sutcliffe who continues to pull at the heartstrings with her gorgeous creations. I have been lucky enough to get my hands on an advance copy, which I have had to wrestle out of Milla’s grasp to read for myself.

Bubbles Before Bed is a story and to do book. It centres around the simple task of Belle & Boo having a bath and getting ready for bed. Along the way there are things to make and do including: a divine hot chocolate recipe, drawing, colouring, cutting and writing activities – enough to keep them busy for a month. The pictures are all uncoloured and so can be customised by your child. Currently aged 3 Milla is a bit young for most of the activities on her own but is very keen to make a Boo mobile with my help. This hasn’t stopped her enjoyment of the book and it is our current nightly favourite before bedtime. If you want to check out some of the projects then Mandy shared a sneaky peek on her blog.

I am strongly reminded of old fashioned annuals and Blue Peter projects when I read this book and it certainly has lots to encourage creative thinking. I would say the age range starts at about 4 – 5 and easily goes up to 7 – 8. I can’t think of a better book to slip into a stocking for some Christmas magic.

It is released in September priced at £7.99 and available from Belle & Boo.
