There’s a new brand making a play for the high end nursery products market and in steps Zoobie. Product designers Guy and Steve have come up with contemporary, highly stylised highchairs and bouncer cradles.

At first glance, they’re certainly going for the design-led parent that buys products that are aesthetically pleasing to their environment yet still functional. Different shades of bent wood (walnut and birch laminate with birch plywood core) mixed with high contrast, plush fabric and aluminium, make the Jigsaw highchairs (top, £250) reminiscent of expensive office chairs. They rotate 360 degrees, can have the table taken off to pull them up to the table, with height and recline adjustment as well.

The lightweight, aluminium Spoon highchair (£180) is also going for stark contrast with a futuristic appearance. The seat is made from lightweight EVA plastic which is like firm, formed rubber and this is also used on their Pebble rocking cradle (£115), which is suitable from birth to six months with seven positions and the option of being static as well.

Both of the highchairs are suitable from six months to around three years so they’re not going for the long life angle and more style and innovation. That said, as a minimalist highchair lover, the footprints looks like they’d be a bit big for my personal tastes but that doesn’t stop me from liking the super stylish appearances. Without seeing any of these up close and personal, it’s difficult to say if the high prices are justified but no doubt these will appeal to design conscious peeps that aren’t under budget constraints, who are on the lookout for something different.

Available from Boohoobaby and also Amazon
