Where to buy…Artwork for Baby Nurseries & Children’s Rooms

January 8, 2009 by Natalie · 6 Comments

Natalie writes…Finding artwork to decorate kids living spaces like baby nurseries/children’s bedrooms and playrooms, can be a painstaking (and potentially expensive) task, but I’ve rounded up a selection of online retailers to suit a variety of tastes and budgets…

Art of Illustration Definitely the spot for bringing out your nostalgic side, they sell original drawings, watercolours, and limited edition prints from illustrative artists such as Quentin Blake CBE, Sue Macartney-Snape, Beryl Cook, and Johnny Bull.

I Like Your Bow picture

Belle & Boo Brilliant for achingly cool vintage charm, they currently have 65 prints (example on right) to whet your appetite. They’re especially great for girls rooms and thankfully there’s no pink overkill. Starting from around £20 unframed.

Bodie & Fou They only have 4 prints but what they do have is super cool, contemporary chic.

Cheeky Charlie Designs Ideal if your room has a more traditional theme based around animals or stories, you can get personalised artwork or commission murals.

Coccolare Great selection of canvases from whimisical, to kitsch, to retro, abstract, and more. They also do contemporary number and alphabet prints.

Etsy (Hot Favourite and brilliant on a budget) Creative peeps from all over the world sell their hand made, often one of a kind creations on here. Prices are in US$ and delivery charges tend to be excellent. Just a shame the pound isn’t as strong as it used to be…Highly addictive and perfect for outcooling everyone around you with your secret squirrel finds.

Ella Loves (Hot Favourite) I’m featuring Aoife’s highly covetable, bespoke ‘My Loves’ pictures next week (pictured right) because I have been lucky enough to have one created for the bambino! The boyf and I are seriously besotted with our picture which is a fantastic, unique, and personal way to celebrate her.

kitty paper sculptureHunky Dory Home  (Great on a budget) – Whilst they have a few prints and canvases, it’s their highly affordable one-of-a-kind 3D pieces made from polymer clay and hand cut paper sculptures. From £10

Little Baby CompanyNumbers Poster by Binth(Favourite) A hotspot of unusual and afforadable prints that are bang on trend in a variety of themes. Includes pieces from Famille Summerbelle, Binth (left), Belle & Boo, Ashley Glessing, Ida Pearle, Winter Water Factory, ISAK and more.

Milly Bee (Great for ‘theme’ parents) Specialising in affordable artwork with quite a large range of personalised options, the site is very handily divided up into ‘themed’ sections that make it easy to locate what you need to match your theme idea.

Mum Said This collection of wall art is definitely for parents with more traditional tastes and chunky budgets too. Much of it is highly stretched canvas reproductions of original artworks by Blum Designs and think fairy tales, nursery rhymes, pinks, blues, trains etc

Nippaz With Attitude They have a limited edition ‘Learning Poster’ which is a hip hop representation of the alphabet for the rebel and hip hop loving parents (and children) amongst us.

Not On the High Street A diverse and eclectic collection of creative British retailers selling their often one of kind goods. A great place to find someone to commission what you’re looking for. Set aside some time for a good hunt because you’re bound to get distracted along the way!

Oliver Jeffers Kat has previously raved about Oliver Jeffers picture books and the four limited edition prints from Lost and Fund and Catch a Star.

Ollie & Lime They have a few fun, contemporary prints on 100% recycled heavyweight paper which can also be turned into bespoke murals to specific sizes (turnaround is 7-10 days). For example, it would be around £350 for an 8ft wide mural which comes in 4 panels.

Present & Correct (favourite) Seriously wallet friendly and super cool, you need to monitor their home section as prints sell out fast! Eagle eyed Kat spotted their A-Z of Endangered Species Poster which is a brilliant buy at £18.50!
