The Hot Toy List for Christmas 2008

When I recently read the list of top 10 most wanted toys, as picked by Hamleys, Amazon, and Toys R Us over at the The Time’s Alpha Mummy blog, I felt nervous! Elmo Live (OK he is cute but still…), the Chou Chou ‘My first tooth’ doll, Dance with me Tellytubby, and In The Night Garden Upsy Daisy and Her Bed. Three out of four are off the telly and each one makes noise!

Fortunately, for several weeks we have been turning over many a stone in search of toys and general gifts to wow your preschooler with.

We’ll be covering 0-1, 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 years. No bambino has been left uncatered for, there’s hot buys to suit every taste and we cover everything from soft toys, to pretend play, to dolls houses, to dolls (seriously, not one of the dolls we’ve found has to wee or cry), doll prams and pushchairs, walkers, rockers, bikes, trikes, and more.

Updated 1st December 2008: We have changed the format and you can now access the toy list right here.

    Hello Natalie
In the quest to save energy and set an example to my kids, I googled kids favorite plant and found a REAL plant that MOVES when you Tickle It! See the video http://www.ticklemeplant.com/video/video.htm
It looked amazing to see a plant actually close its leave and lower its branches when tickled, but could I duplicate this at home in my apartment here in New York? I put it to the test! Within a few days the 2 leaves sprout and as per the packaging, only closed at night. That alone was worth the small price I paid for the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse. A few weeks later small leaves appeared from the center. Would they close up when tickled? Well, not only did the leaves close but the entire tiny branch drooped. I fell in love at first tickle! No batteries required just the rays of the sun or a descent light and some water No green thumb needed as I don’t have one. Will it turn my 6 year old into the next Martha ..well its too early to tell but the smile she had on her face when she tickled the plant and it moved was priceless.
