Room Candy: Display Storage

May 19, 2010 by Kat · 1 Comment

Following Natalie’s superb toy decluttering post I thought some toy storage inspiration was in order and these ideas from Family Living, a Swedish magazine are rainbow coloured storage heaven. All play experts agree that children are more engaged with play and toys when they are ordered and easy to access.

I have been lusting after the stunning Linnarp bookcase from Ikea which with the addition of glass doors turns into a funky display cupboard. It comes in red or black (you know I’m all over the red). The glass is tempered which is more resistant to impact and won’t break into sharp pieces although you could always add glass safety film as a precaution. I love looking at all of those toys neatly lined up! £229 in total.

TubTrugs are perfect for children’s storage as they as flexible and easy to carry around as you hastily tidy everything away. They come in 14 colours and 6 sizes so you can really mix it up and add interest quickly. If you’re like me you will be all for categorising each tub for different toys. Prices are £4.99 to £11.99 so are wallet friendly too.

We are massively into dressing up at the moment and are amassing quite a collection via eBay and carboot sales. We have mentioned this Habitat mini clothes rail before as it was featured in Polly’s nursery tour (note the TubTrugs too!). Definitely worth the investment to keep the dressing up collection in good condition and why not add some wooden coat hangers? £39 for the rail, £16.99 for the hangers.
