Are you using those dodgy instructions on the cassette packaging? It's difficult to say without being there but from my recollection of using it, the end of the cassette with the plastic should be the one facing you. Tie the end of it in a double knot and push down into the hole. But I think you should call 0500 97 98 99 which is their consumer care hotline. Let me know how you get on. That sounds a bit strange.
