Review: Skibz

Skibz Navy SpotNatalie writes…

I wrote about Skibz a little while back and recently received one for the bambino to try out.

Now admittedly, I thought the bambino was beyond wearing a bib outside of dinnertimes, so I was sceptical about how useful it would be. How wrong I was!

The concept: Skibz are basically a half scarf, half bib aimed at teething and dribbly babies. They’re made from a double layer of highly absorbent fabrics that draw in moisture, so preventing chaffing and soreness. There’s no tie – they have a couple of popper buttons making it adjustable, and they fit from birth to 3 years.

In use: As soon as I put it on her, it added a very stylish final touch to the bambino’s already rather funky get up of her favourite ej sikke lej dungarees, black long sleeved bodysuit (H&M bargain), and one foot each of two pairs of Babylegs with her winter boots. I thought she might object but after fingering it suspiciously, she left it in place. There’s room for her to grow in it but due to the way it sits around the neck, there are no troublesome gaps.

We headed off to go shopping for a new hat, scarf, and gloves and immediately the Skibz demonstrated its second use by keeping draft away from the bambino’s neck, as it covered the little gap between the top of the jacket and her neck creating a barrier.

It certainly does soak up moisture as the bambino had a couple of spills and even a bit of drool (she has her back teeth coming up at the mo) and she was lovely and dry.

She got quite a few looks on our travels and we had a few enquiries about where I’d got it so I knew it had created a little style envy – tee hee!

Any negatives?: No.

Value for money: They’re £9.99 in a selection of colours and fabrics. As it’s a style item combo of a scarf and bib, after seeing her in it and of course making use of it, I’m liking the price. They do last for three years as well which is a hell of lot longer than a number of the bibs we own.

Overall: A hot little style buy that’s highly practical and excellent quality, Skibz is a simple product that meets the needs of style conscious parents. They last for ages and looking this good, you’ll want more than one. They make great gifts too!

Verdict: 5/5
