Review: Braun 4520 Thermoscan Ear Thermometer

Braun 4520 Thermoscan Ear Thermometer I can’t remember where I originally read up about ear thermometers but on discovering that different types of thermometers give different readings and that the ear was the best spot, I decided to invest in an ear thermometer.

So what does it do?

It’s the most well known ear thermometer and is even used by GPs.

Memory recall for the last 8 temperatures.

It has a Thermoscan Feedback system which lets you know that you’ve placed it correctly with the green light and then it beeps when the temperature has been taken.

It can be used for everyone including newborns.

You can either do Celsius or Fahrenheit readings

Long life lithium battery and a pack of 21 lens covers for the ear bit

My verdict

This is a great investment long term and you have piece of mind knowing you have an accurate reading. It did take a bit of practice getting used to doing the readings and I strongly advise that you read the instructions when you don’t have a newborn baby, sleep deprivation and breastfeeding to contend with. It’s actually quite simple once you get the hang of it. I use it whilst the bambino is sleeping or when the boyf has her in a strong grip because she tends to box it out of my hands….

5/5 from me. It’s actually less fiddly than using a forehead thingy and it’s digital and accurate. I got mine from Amazon for a bargain £24.99 but they are currently £27.45 instead of the RRP of £39.99. Amazon tend to be the cheapest and you get free delivery too.

Tip from me: Apparently the right ear gives the most accurate reading - I have no idea why…
