Possible Future Purchase: The Bugaboo Bee

July 31, 2008 by · 3 Comments

Blue Bugaboo BeeI have been thinking about getting a Bugaboo Bee ever since I first saw them and realised how compact and light they are. Of course, me and my big mouth, I mentioned it in passing to the boyf who poohed poohed the idea as we already own two pushchairs, a Quinny Buzz and a Mamas and Papas Nipi.

But…I obviously don’t intend to have three pushchairs… So now I just have to sell the two of them (probably on ebay) and problem solved. Oh…I just need to find a way to sneak it past the boyf…

So why do I want a Bugaboo Bee? Well I actually love the look of it but I did try one out in my beloved John Lewis – I never thought I’d like this store but it’s so handy and you know I’m already addicted to Waitrose! Anyway…I digress..

So yes it looks hot to trot, it’s compact, and whilst it’s not as light as the Nipi which is 6.4kg versus the Bugaboo Bee’s 7.7kg, I find very lightweight pushchairs are great for travelling and flinging in the boot but they aren’t the most robust and I can feel too much when I push them. Bugaboo Bee’s are a fantastic halfway house because there’s no more weight worries but their also robust and quite nifty and nimble. I also love the one handed steering I got used to with the Quinny Buzz.

It is £359 at John Lewis though…

Am I considering anything else? The Micralite Fastfold Stroller. I shall wax lyrical about that tomorrow…

I love the Bee… I have a Bug Cameleon, And I want to get a Xplory… But now i’m thinking I want a lightweight Stroller too!!!
It is small looking, But its very deceiving!! my buddha of a baby fits in it very comfortably, and If I have the funds.. I will buy one!!
As for the Micralite, I had one and sold it, as Although I lovd it, It has limited recline, which I found not enough when Bambino need a nap.. and their legs dangle too much… My son used to sit crossed leg’d in it just so they could have a rest! The footmuff.. which is a MUST if buying the Micralite is a tad small and If Bambino is a kicker.. they’ll be out of it in 2 secs with a zip that doesn’t function as well as it did!! (mine broke after about 4 months of this kicking game!
So in my opinion, the micralite is a nice option, A LOT cheaper than the Bee BUT if you want better functions, ease of use and Style.. it HAS to be the Bee!
