Pixie Booties at the White Company

November 6, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

I was just killing time in the White Company when I spied these little boots. There was a brief interlude, and when I came to, I found myself at the cash register handing over my debit card.

Since then I’ve realised that they are in fact a highly practical purchase (see also ‘not frivolous at all’). It was only yesterday that I realised with a slight pang the little one’s feet were cold, despite her socks. With a glad heart I hastened to put these boots on her feet, rejoicing in what was obviously my clear and unselfish foresight and not at all an impulse buy.

The pixie booties are as snug and warm as they are cute, with thick fake fur lining, and a suede sole. Available in pink and blue, and taupe, I’m more in favour of the latter colour, pictured here. It gives these boots a definite fashionable edge, in a ‘certainly not mini fake Ugg boots if that’s what you were thinking’ sort of way. They go brilliantly with brightly coloured all-in-ones, or over stripy tights, and are available in sizes from 0-6 months to 18 – 24 months, priced at £15.

They do up with Velcro at the back, and while I will concede that they may be a little bit easy for the little one to kick off (particularly when having an angry ‘how long ‘til lunch’ moment), I will add in my defence that they are also machine washable. See? As I said: incredibly practical really. My mother would be proud of me.
