Green Kids Party Ideas

Let’s face it - kids parties aren’t normally the greenest of environments, even if you do replace the e-numbers for raisins!

I was really pleased to discover that there’s a growing range of ethical party companies.

Ethical Junction member Ethical Party Bags has a good range of bags, fillers and filled party bags. I particularly like the bags made from recycled juice cartons by a project in the Phillipines. Prices from £2.25.

Little Cherryrobot party bag from Little Cherry not only carry party bags (prices from £2.80) but have a great range of ethical party ware including biodegradable cutlery made from starch! (GM free of course!)

Perhaps the best way to beat the party bag problem is to hold a “make party” where the little ones make their own take home present - Bishybarnybees (Norfolk speak for ladybirds!) provide resources for themed craft parties (Pirate Party anyone?) as well as their Really Green Party items recommended by the Green Parent Guide.

Lupus et Agnus at The Hedgepig

July 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Natalie writes… bellatrix dress by lupus et agnus

I am a huge fan of The Hedgepig who have a spot on range of all things Scandinavian and I’ve just been having a drool at their Lupus et Agnus range.

I love the Bellatrix Dress with its contrasting prints which are a checked gingham with a Hawaiian print fabric that has a velvet trim. The tie straps add a great touch and if the bambino could skip, I’d like to see her doing it in this! £39.99 in sizes 2-4 years.

Check out the rest of their range which has more contrasting prints, loud bold spots, and prints with bold trimming for delightful contrast. Ah…sigh…another Danish brand to love…

Boon Feeding Range

July 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Boon Squirt SpoonNatalie writes…

I see the name ‘Boon’ all over the place when I read US blogs and if you’re wondering where you have vaguely heard of that name, they are the creators of the hugely popular Frog Pod which is distributed her in the UK by the makers of Grobag.

I had a surf through their US site and started salivating at some of the gear and decided to have a check and see what’s available here in the UK. Not much…but a couple of great finds nonetheless.

The Boon Squirt Spoon is designed to make one handed feeding when you’re on the go simpler by combining the food container and spoon into one product. You squirt out food from the food storage part onto the spoon one mouthful at at a time and there is a protective cover for the spoon for when it’s not in use. It’s dishwasher safe and suitable from 4 months. £8.95 from MumsTheWord at Bambino Goodies Amazon.

boons benders cutleryThe Boons Benders Cutlery is another quirky find. They’re described as “training wheels for regular utensils” and are used to transition your baby to proper cutlery by adjusting to their grip. £7.25 from the Bambino Goodies Amazon Store.

Bambino Goodies Hot Find

I want more Boon stuff in the UK! Failing that peeps, you can always shop on US sites…

Nume Hanger’s

July 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Nume Blue HangerNatalie writes…

You know I’m a sucker for a hanger and I’ve been eyeing up this one from hot Italian brand Nume.

It’s an oversized hanger made from layered birch with a water based finish, measuring 14 X 13 cm, and quite reminiscent of the Eames coat hook but in wood.

It is a bit pricey for one hook at £32 but if I were pitching this to the boyf, I’d say it was a sexy hook that can hold a lot on its oversized self.

It only comes in a pastel colour but you could jazz it up with some decals.

Charles Buchan Football

July 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

charles buchan footballNatalie writes…

The bambino loves playing with a signed football from Crystal Palace FC (don’t ask…apparently it’s from when they were in the first division or premiership, or something….) but I think hers and her dads attention could be easily diverted with this!

The Charles Buchan leather football is a gift aimed at dads but it will no doubt get touched up by your baby. It has 18 panels of nostalgic clippings and images from his career.

I admit I had no clue who he was but he was head of the football association and used to play for Arsenal.

I like it purely from an aesthetic point of view though…

Baby’s Argyle Hat & Mittens

July 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Baby's Argyle Hat & MittensNatalie writes…

I just spotted this bargain giftbox over at Pod. I think it was originally aimed at Christmas babies but these sets are perfect for autumn and winter.

The argyle hat and mittens are made from 100% Shetland Wool and are on the right side of traditional cool.

They’re reduced from £19 to £13.50 for size 0-6 months. If you’ve got a gift to buy for a newborn arriving in the latter end of the year, these are a great buy. Never fear, they’re also available in blue.

circles Tripp Trapp Cushion

Natalie writes…

CustomTripp Trapp Cushions

Hardcore fan of Bambino Goodies and Mum to 3 Natalie (no not me!) has ticked our boxes by creating handmade, custom cushions for Tripp Trapp highchairs. If you want to get your mitts on one, you’ll have to visit ebay, but we are currently harassing her to get an Etsy store and release her very divine flashdance-esque pants for babies. They have to be seen to be believed!

Roald Dahl Aprons

Have I ever told you that The Twits is one of my favourite books? Well anyway, enough of my vintage childhood reminiscings… I love the Roald Dahl aprons/tabards/smocks I featured yesterday and the moment the bambino is big enough, she will be unleashing her creative, eating self, in one of them.

Winning Stuff

You can win a prize over at Budget Bambino Goodies, you can recommend a product or store and be in with a chance to win prize by sending your tips to readerrec [at sign] bambinogoodies.co.uk, or you can check your email tomorrow…if you’re on the mailing list. And beware, we have a lot of competitions coming up…woohoo!

Dali Decals birds on a wireDali Decals

This sizzling hot find from Kat was found on Etsy. We are obsessed with decals and Dali Decals certainly does not help the matter any further! I want to cover my house in their decadent designs but that would be overkill… And with that sweet dollar exchange rate, it’s unbelievably good!

elodie details gold limited edition dummy

Elodie Details Gold and Silver Edition Dummies - New product alert!

Whilst it’s great that the bambino hates dummies, I want to be the mac-baby with this superior chunk of bling! I’ve even told her that she won’t have to say ‘I ain’t getting on no plane FOOL!’… Available from the end of July.

hucklebones mustard wrapHucklebones - New clothing brand alert!

Kat and I checked out this new brand at Bubble and let’s just say that if I’d had a criminal mind, I would have done a snatch and grab on their collection there and then… Hucklebones features lots of mustard, sumptuous bold prints, delicate tailoring, hand printed silks, Italian wool, and a whimsical air that makes me want to buy up everything and lie about the price to the boyf, THIS is a serious children’s clothing brand to watch. And they’re British. Look out for more from us! They’re not on sale yet so keep your itchy spending fingers at bay!
