This week Kat, our chief contributor who’s currently on maternity leave with her second child (cutie Monty) has shared Milla (also fondly known as ToddlerGeek), her 22 month old daughter’s nursery with us. The last time we featured it, we only got a taster and it’s great to find out how the room has grown.

Kat explains: Before our daughter arrived we only painted the room and put up wallpaper. We wanted to let the room grow as she did so that it would reflect her personality and tastes. So gradually things have been added from the gorgeous Belle and Boo prints to the crazy goose lamp.

We haven’t bought any of the furniture especially for the room with the exception of her cot bed. As we didn’t have a large budget the majority is hand-me-down pieces. I love having the extra bed in her room as it makes an excellent snuggling spot as well as providing a place for me to catch a quick lie down!

The single curtain and high tie back (Ikea) seemed like the best way to go to keep maximum light in the room as it’s south facing. We have both Milla’s bed and a single bed which serves as a story spot, changing station and occasional bed when she needs someone with her in the night. The light shade is by Djeco.

Moving into the toddler bed was one of the best days of her life – she absolutely adores being able to climb in and read her toys a story. We still haven’t decided whether her brother will move in with her once he’s out of our room but either way I can see the room continuing to evolve as she grows. The bedlinen is Clouds from Little Baby Company (for bedrooms I don’t think you can go far wrong with Little Baby Company as Caterine has impeccable taste and I could easily buy practically everything in the shop!) – when Milla opened the parcel there were cries of ‘Oooh, Mama! Clouds!’ and she just loves tucking herself into bed. The owl cushion is from Habitat. The wallpaper is Cath Kidston although if I were doing it again it would have to be Mini Moderns Moo wallpaper!

The lamp is by Heico and came from a local store, The Beanstalk – Milla just loves it so much and runs around saying ‘goose, goose’. The wall art is Belle & Boo and the Flensted mobile is from Little Baby Company. The bed linen is an old Ikea design and the changing mat came from eBay.

We’ve got quite a collection of cushions with the three at the back from Ikea through the ages and two birds are Zid Zid for Habitat and the monkey is Anne-Claire Petit, which I’ve previously waxed lyrical about here.
