I have a confession – I still haven’t set up the bambino’s child trust fund and I have about 6 weeks left. Fortunately I have MyEggNest to help me which is going to remove all the legwork. It’s a comprehensive guide to saving for your child’s future and provides a one step resource that enables you to compare different child trust funds so that you can make an informed decision.

Bambino Goodies Hot Find

For anyone who is not in the know, every child born after 1st September 2002 receives £250 from the government (double if you’re on a low income). You have one year to open an account and invest the money as either cash or shares. You (or anyone else that feels like extending some generosity) can put an additional £1200 into the fund each year and when your child turns 7, the government coughs up the £250 (or double for low income) again. The money can’t be touched until they turn 18 when they should have a nice tax free sum to use for university or whatever they choose.

MyEggNest has both a quick guide and detailed explanation of child trust funds, plus reviews from parents, and a comparison of the various types of funds, plus you can get e-brochures for funds too, so you can do even more reading up. Should you be the sort that wants to find out about taxation and all that mallarky, you can even read up on that too. Oh and you can get coupons to save on your grocery shopping too.

With a resource like MyEggNest, I and the other 25% of parents who ‘forget’ to invest this money or struggle to choose a savings account, have no excuses anymore! Definitely worth a visit and I am very close to making my decision re the bambino’s child trust fund. Yay!
