Back in my day, lunchboxes were plastic affairs with your favourite TV characters on them and whilst 80s children’s TV was infinitely cooler than today’s stuff, I’m glad that lunchboxes are cooler, quirkier affairs these days.

The Muchler Lunchbox has been developed in partnership with award-winning NYC illustrator Steven Savage. Looking like a very kidified clutch bag, the animal ears are the carry handles and it unzips completely flat into a placemat. It’s also totally insulated so that their food stays cold or warm.

£9.99 each from Urchin. I personally prefer the dog one only because the baby pink one is just a bit much on my eye.
