But this innovative creation is fast becoming the next big thing. The top part has a saddle shaped design and there are 4 integrated wheels at the bottom, so kids can rest their little weary feet, as well as ride around. No doubt many of you will recognise the face on this latest limited edition Trunki – The Gruffalo. The original book is a humorous tale told in rhyme of a mouse making his way through the ‘deep dark wood’ looking for a nut and dealing with the intimidating and much bigger animals en route by warning them of a ‘fictional’ gruffalo with “terrible tusks and terrible claws with terrible teeth in his terrible jaws”. Launched to coincide with the animated version of which will be shown on the BBC this Christmas, it looks like the Trunki was just made to work with The Gruffalo’s famous features.
If you’re not familiar with Trunki’s, they’re award winning hand luggage come ride-on’s for 3-6 year olds, although admittedly the bambino (28 months) was gifted with one and used it on our recent trip to Center Parcs. Originally pitched (and failed) on the Dragons Den (they must grimace each time they pass one), it’s got a spacious 18 litre capacity and they’re brilliant for making travelling fun. Kids love pulling them along, riding on them, and even hugging them.
