Leander Cotbed

The moment that we saw the Leander Cot, the boyf and I knew it was a strong contender for being the bambino’s future bed. This stunning Danish design goes from cot, to day bed, to junior bed, and can last until your child is six (unless they outgrow it!).
It’s made from high quality Scandinavian birch and has an oval shape with soft edges which doesn’t give that overwhelming large feel that other cots can. The one mattress is used for all 3 beds (there is an extra piece included for the junior bed) and it’s made from ventilated cold foam with an ecotex treated quilted cotton which has been through a hypo-allergenic process.
It’s got a two position mattress so it can be in the raised position until your baby gets bigger.
Price wise, it’s not for the faint hearted! It retails for £549 (that’s over US$1000) and we brought it for £465 – yes after looking at about 50 cots, we still came back to this one! Obviously you can’t use the standard fitted sheets that you come across in stores, but we ordered several, with 2 packs costing around 14.95. You can of course use standard flat sheets.
Why I love it: Beautiful design, unique and unusual, lasts for such a long time, transforms into lovely pieces of furniture, more freedom to have different types of furniture as it matches easily (lots of other cots are in awkward wood colours that force you to buy everything in the range), great size.
Cons: The side doesn’t let down but this isn’t technically a con because the cots it was up against from Mamas and Papas didn’t let down either! I have since learned that cotbeds don’t have sides that ‘let down’…
The price of Leander Cots has changed since back in the day when we purchased ours and the RRP is £670 now, (I think it was something like £570 before). Keep an eye out for deals and do ensure that it is actually in stock and ready to deliver when you order. Funky Kids Furniture, for instance, currently have it for £579.
