Last Minute Valentine’s Suggestions

February 11, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

The boyf and I don’t really do Valentine’s day although in a special salute to the credit crunch we’ve decided to go out for dinner just for the hell of it. If however, you’re on the lookout for ideas, here are a few things that took my fancy….
'Union' pillowcases by twisted twee
‘Union’ pillowcases by Twisted Twee
Loving the kitschness of these pillows but equally loving the fact that the designer, Suzie Warren claims that that they make these to the sound of ‘Endless Love’ which isn’t the Lionel Ritchie/Diana Ross number but a collection of 20 timeless ballads… Made from high quality Egyptian cotton. £20 Twisted Twee

The bambino loves eating breakfast in bed with us at the weekends so this birdfest by the fabulous ISAK could be a love-in gift for all of us. Made from seven layers of sustainable birch wood, it even comes with its own tote bag. £14 Cloudberry Living. There’s also a very cool ‘Lovebird Cup’ which has a wooden lid on it to keep hot drinks warm, £8.

If your preschooler is already at that stage where they send out lots of Valentine’s cards to people, go for the cool printable option as long as you have a color printer and appropriate paper. For $5 you can print as many as you like of the design – they send you PDFs. Little Brown Pen at Etsy . [via Babyccino]

Pia Wallén Unisex Felt Slippers
I felt compelled to feature red, what with the theme of this post but these fabulous slippers (which also come in kids sizes) are available in several cool colours. Made from 100% wool with a non slip sole, they look extremely cool on your feet. Adult sizes3-9.5, £38 at Cloudberry Living. Baby (0-6 months) £20 at Finnesse Lifestyle. Unfortunately we can’t find anywhere that has child sizes in stock at the moment!

Huggalugs Baby Legwarmers
If you’re the sort that gets their child in on the whole lovefest, going all out with heart printed leg warmers by Huggalugs could be just your thang. In a nifty manouver from typical baby leg warmers, the thigh parts wider than the ankle so they’ll be extra comfy too. £6.99 Dribblebuster
green and blacks organic chocolate

Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate
There are so many mums I know that love this chocolate that clearly the way to many a mothers heart is through her sweet tooth. They have individual bars, gift sets etc so for example, you could get a selection of 8 100g bars for £16. Green & Blacks and in various stores on the high street.
