I am in love with the work of Ida Pearle. She’s a New York based artist who works with cut-paper to create sublime collages. Her work is filled with playful images cut from fabulous prints (oh, if only we could buy the clothes in the pictures!). Each carefully constructed piece is bursting with joie de vivre making it perfect for the nursery. From her own site you can buy Alphabet Cards, $44, which look fab hung washing line style across a wall. If you want something a little more personal you can choose a Name Print, from $98, which is one of her gorgeous pictures customised to your child’s hair & skin tone with their name in place of the letters.

hot buy bambino goodiesIf you are loving the art but can’t afford the prices I suggest you take a look at her books. A Child’s Day: An Alphabet of Play (RRP £7.99 Amazon £7.19) is the alphabet collection in a large hardback book. The second book is a collaboration with Amy Krouse Rosenthal called Words to Remember: A Journal for Your Child’s Sweet and Amusing Sayings (RRP £10.98 Amazon £9.88). Amy wanted to create a place to record all the fantastic things children say. The journal has a padded hardback, is illustrated with Ida’s collages and peppered with they sayings of Amy’s children & their friends. I love the spirit of this book and for your amusement here are two entries from the Bambino team’s divas: Saria (to her Uncle) ”You’re scaring me! I’m not having it!” Milla, (anytime she says please) ”Oh, Milla asked soooo nicely.”
