In today’s installment from our Hot Toy List for Christmas 2008, I’m focusing on our hottest buys for rocking toys. With our stylish buys starting from age 12 months ranging from modern and loud, to an eco friendly twist on the traditional rocking horse, to so minimal it doesn’t look like a rocking horse, to bunnytastic cool, there’s something to suit the tastes of the hip, discerning BG reader. And of course, we’ll have a few more in the forthcoming digital magazine version.

Once again Brio triumphs with this sizzling hot rock. Super sturdy and built to last from wood with an upholstered seat, this is great for developing motor skills and sense of balance. £49.95 from Harrods.
2. Arabian Rocking Horse by Plan Toys – Best on a stylish budget!
Suitable from 18 months
We’re huge fans of ethical brand Plan Toys who make the most fabulous range of toys from sustainable wood. Whilst this is based on the traditional style of rocking horse, it has a modern, colourful vibe and is utterly sweet. £35 from Funky Moose – fantastic price!
3. SIBI Rosa Rocker
Suitable from 18 months
We adore this minimalist rocker from German woodworking company, SIBI. Made from solid ash with steel, they are simple yet exquisite, and really robust. It looks so good, you might want to show it off in your sitting room. £79 from Luxeville
4. Playsam Wooden Rocking Rabbit
Suitable from 12 months
This is one super hot ride on from the Swedish toy giant. It’s been honoured with the Excellent Swedish Design award and is a dark yet playful contemporary take which offloads the horse in favour of a rabbit, is made from wood and MDF with a glossy finish and big leather ears.
