Hot shop: The Kid Who
I am soooooooo excited about new shop The Kid Who (thanks for the tip off, Kat). Not only does it stock some cool brands even I’ve never heard of (I know, can you believe it?), but they’re planning on opening a concept store in Brighton, right on my doorstep – hurrah (and goodbye pennies). The store is family run and products are sourced from all over Europe.
You’ll find tons of BG favourites on offer – think Mibo, Coq en Pate, Kidsonroof, Sukie, Lucky Boy Sunday – all as gorgeous as ever, but it’s the exclusive quirky labels that have really got us hot under the collar. Meo & Friends from Denmark was a new brand for me. I love the cheeky little knitted character dolls, £25 each – my favourite is green lion You-O, above, who is good at making friends and likes social events.
La Cerise sur la Gateau (the cherry on the cake) is a range of beautiful baby sleeping bags by French designer Anne Hubert – I am loving Simone the elephant, £55. Also French, OMY creates the most extraordinary paper fancy dress costumes, £14 each (see the superhero, top). Unfortunately they sold out the moment The Kid Who went live last week, but a new delivery is imminent – sign up to the newsletter so you don’t miss your chance.
If you’re already on the hunt for *whispers* Christmas presents, I’m positive that the Danish Plus-Plus construction kits will be well received by boys and girls alike. Available in 100 (£5), 300 (£12), 600 (£22) or 1200 (£40) blocks in Basic, Neon or Pastel colours. A great, stylish alternative to Lego. The Kid Who is a brilliant resource for gifts full stop, plus they will do your wrapping gratis, provided you choose a paper (ranging from plain brown kraft to Ingela P Arrhenius’s woodland) from their store. I look forward to reporting back on its bricks and mortar incarnation. In the meantime, what are you waiting for? Click, click.
