Green Door Bookshop
Books are my passion and one that I, thankfully, seem to have passed on to Alfie. Our lounge is floor to ceiling books and Alfie’s bookshelves are fit to burst (current favourite: George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl). Books are also my number one gift choice for children - see our gift guide for a few of my picks. Whenever possible, I buy from our fabulous local bookshop (Kemptown, since you ask). If you’re not lucky enough to have an independent down the road, fear not, for the The Green Door Bookshop is here to help.
Created by two parents who share BG’s love of quirky, cool reading material, the online-only store offers a small, but well-curated, collection of tomes for children. You’ll discover many of our favourite names, from OIiver Jeffers and DwellStudio to Belle & Boo and Rosie Flo, plus some names you’ve never come across that look equally enticing. There’s a definite focus on the quirky and arty, with the majority of books from small publishing houses, and stock is divided between three age groups (Babies and Toddlers, Preschoolers, Early School Readers), plus Colouring and Activity and Grown Up Kids. At the moment, there are twelve books (pictured, above) with 20% off for the festive season – snap up Olive the other Reindeer if you don’t already have it. A lovely alternative to those mega, multinational sites, plus there’s a great section of reviews by children (with some younger critics given a helping hand by their mummies).Add to favorites
