Happy Birthday Alfie!
I still can’t quite believe it, but my son Alfie turned one yesterday. Yay, we all made it through the first year unscathed.
It’s been quite a week of celebrations, kicking off on Thursday with a visit to Spring Barn Farm Park with friends and finishing with a trip to Drusilla’s to shout at monkeys. But the big event was his birthday party/naming ceremony on Sunday at Latest Music Bar, a lovely venue in Brighton not far from home. With 40 adults and 20 under-9s attending, I assumed chaos would reign, but thanks to the inimitable face-painting skills of Naomi (NamNams) – seriously amazing – and a lot of Charley Harper colouring sheets and crayons, the proceedings went swimmingly and we grown-ups managed more than a few cheeky glasses of prosecco.
Figuring it was the only chance I’d get to decide the theme, I opted for birds (I’ll share my bird-themed party tips in another post) and my mum (a brilliant cook) made this cool owl (what else!?) cake, which tasted as good as it looks.
The birthday boy wore a starry Kik*Kid jumpsuit from The Hedgepig which was much admired. A lovely time was had by all and the presents, some of which I’ll be blogging about at a later date, were superb, so thanks to everyone. Happy Birthday Alfie!
