Grobag Swaddling Blanket

I’ve become curious about swaddling because so many people have mentioned it to me. One of my clients swears that it’s what got them through the first few months because his little girl was a real mover that became unsettled very quickly without it. Swaddling seemingly enables babies to feel very much like they did in the womb so I can only imagine it’s a comforting feeling.

Over at babycentre they say that swaddling is for babies up to 1 month but I know a lot of people that have done it for longer. I think it comes down to whether your baby actually needs it because some babies really don’t sleep very well without it. Apparently swaddling helps to reduce the effect of the Moro reflex which is the tendency that newborns have to suddenly move their arms and startle themselves.

The Grobag Swaddling Blanket is 100% cotton and can be used from birth up to three months, and by then the baby is able to roll over and find it’s own sleeping position so it won’t need swaddling.

Of course you could just use a sheet or suitable blanket but I’m liking the sound of the Grobag as they make high quality sleeping bags and you don’t need to worry about the baby overheating with the wrong type of fabric.

£13.95 at Bumpto3. Since I first wrote this post, they’ve added a few more to the range including an organic version. Even though the bambino only lasted about a month in it on and off, I have to say it was brilliant on those occasions where she needed help settling.
