Exclusive Sneak Peek: Clothkits Summer 2010

May 7, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Clothkits are preparing to release their latest wave of designs and continue to work with hot designers to bring the best of design to their ready-to-sew brand.

First up are trousers at £22 a kit which will bring a whole new meaning to the term ‘pants on fire’. Jane Foster has returned to design the deliciously Scandinavian-style red apple trousers (pictured above, bottom centre). People Will Always Need Plates have created a design with a whole host of classic cars following the success of the VW Dungarees – perfect for collection loving kids (pictured below in kit form). Not only are the boys in luck with funky trousers but they also have a fab new Liberty print ‘ready-made’ shirt (no sewing!). On first inspection it is a nice random pattern but look a little closer and you will find it is a bicycle print by Grayson Perry – utterly fabulous (pictured above, top left) £28.

Girls are by no means left out with carefree polka dot designs which can be either a sun dress or skirt (pictured above, right top & bottom) £20. They also have a fabulous grass green dress designed by Oxfam designer Sophia Swithern for the Clothkits design competition. The fun Three Birds and a Bike Dress (pictured above, top centre) was an instant winner and is available now for £22.50 with £2.50 of the price being donated to Oxfam. There is also a girls’ ready made shirt (pictured above, bottom left) which is richly coloured and has soft gathering detail which gives it a feminine shape, £28.

We gave you a fleeting glance of the latest Clothkits & Mini Moderns collaboration in our Kids Modern Visual Round-Up. They will be stocking grown up girls’ skirts and fabric by the metre in the funky C60 print – Squeeee! I don’t have any more details on these for now but for updates on all new Clothkits kits and products sign up to their newsletter.
