England and Wales Baby Names Tool

It has been a long time since I told you of my fascination with the Name Voyager. Now someone has created an equivalent tool for baby names in England and Wales.

Taken from data since 1996 the tool can plot the rise and fall of naming trends as well as showing you what’s popular in more general terms. I found the search function a little clunky as it often resets halfway through typing a name (the picture above is what I got typing ‘Alfie’ not quite what I was after!) Despite its quirks it provides an amazing visual tool for searching baby names and assessing their popularity.
