EA Sports Active (Wii)ea sports active wii woman with dumbbells

As soon as I saw the TV ad for EA Sports Active during the Britain’s Next Top Model break last week, I knew I had to have it. I’m due to start exercising soon to gradually get in shape after having my c-section, so the concept of having a personal trainer in my living room, putting me through 20 minute circuits full of various activities and exercises to target upper and lower body as well as cardio is…exciting.

You use your existing Wii remote and numchuck in combination with the supplied leg strap and a resistance band to get the most out of the exercises, and also to track your movements and body placement to ensure you’re exercising properly. Train on your own or with someone, which you can do competitively or share goals. You can embark on a 30 Day Challenge which gives you a road map to reach your goals, with different workouts each day and calorie tracking in your journal. It can be used with or without the Wii balance board which enhances certain exercises.

I officially start working out next week as I shall be over the six week mark but I did give it a try out and it took all of about two minutes before I swore at the personal trainer – they really do make you work! Once I got over my tantrum and put on a suitable sports bra…, I really enjoyed the workout (the resistance band is tough!) and did a little jogging, boxing, inline skating, and various stretching exercises. I am going to tailor my programme to include dancing in it and I will report back with a review in a few weeks time. You can get it on Amazon for £34.06 – RRP is £44.99
