In an effort to ensure transparency so that you can be assured that what you are reading is full of editorial integrity, I wanted to make clear the following:
I am not a retailer, pr agency, or brand owner. I don’t work in the sector and if I did, I would state specifically who I was working for to ensure that there was no conflict of interest or perceived bias. I am a pro-blogger and run several sites including a dating and relationship site. In my life pre-babies, I worked at various media owners in sales and marketing with my last role at a very large technology publisher.
I don’t accept payment to write about a product and if I ever did so, it would be called a ‘Sponsored Post’ and would be clearly shown in the title, just like when you open a mag or newspaper and see ‘Advertorial’..but I don’t do these.
As this site is about fashion, I don’t ‘review’ clothing but I won’t say I’ve handled a piece of clothing if I haven’t.
I will always explicitly state when I own something and also when I endorse a store, but writing about a product or a store is not actually an endorsement.
I do get sent clothing to check out, however, the great majority of these are returned as there’s is only so much clothing I can put on my children’s backs plus there’s no such thing as a free meal.
I only feature stuff that I (or contributors) like so if I’m not feeling something, it just won’t be featured. End of. As I like my kids to look good, I’m not going to suggest clothing that will have your own kids looking dodge!
I do accept paid advertising on the site, however, this has absolutely zero influence on what is featured. I like to keep a clear distance between advertising and editorial, so if someone wants to advertise, they need to cough up and pay. As a publisher, advertising is the bread and butter of my sites.
I won’t feature someone who says that if I do they’ll advertise as it’s the start of a journey down a slippery slope.
I source the great majority of my finds on my continuous window shopping, plus I get tipped off by mates, designers etc. I do get press releases (show me a media owner that doesn’t) but they account for a miniscule amount of what I cover and I don’t do regurgitation so you can be assured that my words (or a contributors) are my own and I won’t rehash a press release.
There is participation in a small number of affiliate programmes, but this is seriously minor and goes towards paying for hosting – no shared hosting here – this site is on a managed server which costs a chunk of change each month! The great, overwhelming majority of links on this site are not affiliate links – that’s at least 90% and affiliate links are only used if the item was going to be featured anyway and where the link is, is the cheapest at that time. Please check the privacy policy for further information.
